Sports car rental in Stuttgart: fleet, prices and how it works

Which cars can you rent?

Seven cars, deliberately different from one another. The Toyota GR Yaris is the compact way in: all-wheel drive, 280 hp, and the lowest price in the fleet. The Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 4S is a manual with a naturally aspirated flat six, which is getting hard to find. The two Aston Martin DB9, coupé and Volante convertible, are grand tourers with a 6.0 litre V12. The Dodge Viper RT/10 is the opposite of modern: eight litres, ten cylinders, almost no electronics. The BMW M2 Competition has been tuned to 600 hp. At the top sits the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 with its V10.

What does the sports car rental include?

Every rental comes with fully comprehensive insurance and a mileage allowance. Four hours include 150 kilometres, a day 250. The GR Yaris and the Gallardo also have weekend and week packages with considerably more mileage, for example 700 kilometres with the Gallardo from Friday to Sunday.

If you drive further, extra kilometres are charged. The GR Yaris costs 1.00 euro per kilometre, the Gallardo 2.50 euros. Both have packages that work out cheaper than paying per kilometre: 100 kilometres cost 70 euros with the Yaris instead of 100. If you already know you want to go further, say so when you enquire and we will price it in.

How does it work?

1. Send a request. Name, WhatsApp number, car and the date you want. Anything unusual can go in the message field.
2. We reply over WhatsApp. Availability, time, deposit and the full cost. If the date does not work, we look for an alternative.
3. Pick-up in Weil der Stadt or Böblingen. We agree the place and time beforehand. No account, no prepayment.
4. Drive and return. The car comes back with a full tank at the agreed time, we note the mileage, and the deposit is released.

There is no online calendar to book blind. With seven individual cars, a short conversation is faster and more reliable than a system that confirms slots which then clash.

What do you need to bring?

• A valid category B driving licence, the original document rather than a copy or a photo
• Passport or national ID card
• The deposit, in the form we agreed beforehand

Only the person named in the rental agreement drives the car. That is not a formality: insurance cover depends on the driver having been checked and entered into the contract.

Minimum age depends on the car. The GR Yaris and the Porsche 911 start at 21, the two Aston Martin and the BMW M2 at 23, the Dodge Viper and the Lamborghini Gallardo at 25. The GR Yaris additionally requires two years of licence holding, the Gallardo five. If you are not sure whether your licence date qualifies, put the issue date in your message and we will check it before the day itself.

Licences issued in the EU are straightforward. For licences from outside the EU it depends on the issuing country, and an international driving permit or a translation may be needed. Mention the country when you enquire so it is settled in advance.

Where do you collect the car?

In Weil der Stadt, where the company is based, or in Böblingen. Both sit west and south west of Stuttgart, within easy reach of Sindelfingen, Leonberg and the Vaihingen area. If you work at one of the sites around Böblingen or Panzer Kaserne, the Böblingen handover is usually the shorter trip.

Allow 20 to 30 minutes for the handover. We check documents, take the deposit, walk around the car together and photograph its condition including wheels and front end, then note the mileage. After that we go through the controls. The Gallardo uses an automated manual gearbox with paddles, which feels different from a torque converter automatic, and the 911 is a manual with a clutch that bites late.

Where can you drive?

From Weil der Stadt and Böblingen you are on country roads within minutes. West takes you into the northern Black Forest, south into the Schönbuch forest. Both are well surfaced, reasonably quiet and easy to cover inside the 150 kilometres of a four hour rental.

A full day with 250 kilometres is enough to reach the Swabian Alb and come back. A bigger loop, for example the Black Forest High Road with a return over the Alb, runs closer to 350 or 400 kilometres, which is where a mileage package makes sense. German autobahn sections without a speed limit exist nearby, though traffic around Stuttgart means the country roads are usually the better drive.
